After getting drinks we went to eat lunch with 姑姑 and 姑父. They chose a restaurant in Rowland Heights called XG Restaurant, which had been recommended to them. As soon as I stepped in, I was drawn to the huge 屉 of 包子 in the back. They were all beautifully shaped. 姑父 ordered most of the food and it came quickly. First the 土豆丝 came and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. There was also 韭菜盒子, which was very tasty as well. All the shapes were beautiful. I especially loved the 地三鲜. It was my first time trying and I loved it.
Eric ordered 担担面 because he always orders noodles. We had only had 四川 style 担担面 before, and the 东北 style we got was very unexpected. It tasted a lot like 麻酱面, but very spicy. It was so spicy that 姑父 started sweating after trying just one noodle! Everyone except for 姑姑 tried it, and we all agreed it was one of the spiciest things we had eaten. I thought it was alright and not too spicy, but I wasn’t in the mood for spicy food so I didn’t eat much. The owner saw our struggles with the spiciness and gave us a free drink! So that was pretty cool.
